Lake Havasu City was the brain child of Robert McCulloch Senior, and with the help of the designer of Disneyland, the town was master planned and established is 1963 as a self sufficient resort/retirement planned community.
Boasting spectacular vistas of the shimmering lake and majestic mountains, and with clear blue skies, (Lake Havasu has the cleanest air in the country according to some reports), the approximately 50,000 local residents are truly blessed to be able call Havasu their home.
Lake Havasu is still a small town, but the commercial development opportunities are abundant. In early spring of 2008 two of the anchor stores at the new mall opened up at the "Shops at Lake Havasu Regional Lifestyle Center", near the Home Depot and across from the airport. Havasu now has a Dillard's Department Store and a much large JC Penny. There will soon be a Super Wal-Mart, many other shops and boutiques, as well as a new larger Cinema, some terrific restaurants and a new auto mall.
This commercial development will attract residents from other nearby communities, such as Kingman, Bullhead City, Parker and Golden Valley. It will bring needed jobs, money and tax revenue to Lake Havasu that will benefit our local economy. It will also make Havasu a more desirable place to live, which will boost our local real estate market.
Many believe that home prices will never be lower than they are right now. Everyone seems to have discovered that our market has bottomed out, and we are currently experiencing a huge surge in home buyer activity. There has not been this kind of buyer activity since the last boom started, and prices are similar to what they were in the early 2000's.
